When it comes to Android OS upgrades, Samsung has had a terrible history. The company is yet to roll out the Android Oreo for its last year’s S series flagship, the Galaxy S8, and S8 Plus and for the Note series flagship, the update is available only in some regions and with some carriers only.

However, the company it seems wants to put up a good job when it comes to providing monthly security patch, obviously for a company with so many models across various lineups providing a patch for all the devices would be next to impossible, but still, Samsung is trying its level best.

The company has already rolled out the security patch for the Galaxy J3 2017, Galaxy On5 Pro, Galaxy J7 2017 and the Galaxy J2 Pro. Following them are the Galaxy A8, A8 Plus, J7 2017, the A5 2017 and the S7/ S7 Edge on T-Mobile, which have now started to receive the security patch.

The update is rolling out over the air like it happens nowadays and availability by regions may vary differing by almost a couple of days.

The updated versions of the devices are:

  • Galaxy A8 Plus: A730FXXU2ARD1
  • Galaxy A5 2017: A520FXXU4BRD1

Along with the April Security patch, the update also contains various bugs and error fixes and no additional functionality except for the Galaxy A8, which gains the option of adjusting the screen sensitivity and improvement in camera stability.
